  Objective

To find meaningful employment, preferably within the Shore Based Marine Industry in which I can utilise my skills and experience from many years at sea, and abilities as Master.  To live and work close to home in enjoyable surroundings and with satisfying work potentials.

Profile

Merchant Ship’s Captain: Retired but with full valid qualifications.

 

Very experienced in the Marine Industry: More than 40 years at sea. Knowledgeable and well tested Ship’s Captain with over 20 years in Command.

 

Owners & Crew Representative on board: Wide ranging powers to vary employment conditions and change/amend contracts, employment, discipline and basic HR standards. Arbitrator of Grievances

 

Effectively, the CEO of a multi million dollar industry: Small work force. Day to day operation, employment, budget, care of cargo, route planning, health, safety and security.

 

Safety Quality Management: Responsible for implementing and compliance with ISO 9002 standards.

 

International Security: Responsible for the vessel as Ships Security Officer. Implementation of International, National, Flag and Company policy and regulations.

 

Environmental Issues: Implement, Identify and prevent all forms of Marine Pollution.

 

Answerable to: Owners, Managers, Operators, Crew, Cargo Owners and Port Officials for the implementation of International Legislation, and the safe carriage of the Cargo.

 

Chief Communications Officer: In sole charge of Communications at all levels.

 

Hotel Manager: Supervising the living conditions on board and the provision of good, palatable food, well presented within a narrow budget, for multi-cultural crew members.

-          41 Years of unbroken employment by a single Company under many name changes.

-          20 Years in Command of Ocean Going Refrigerated Cargo Vessels.

-          4 Years as Senior Fleet Captain with added responsibilities.

-          Substantially improved the condition of every vessel under my Command

-          Established strong relationships with Multi-National, Multi-Cultural Crew.

-          Earned Trust and respect from Officials and Suppliers in many countries.

-          Identified the need for and created Excel Spreadsheets to automate Ship’s Accounting

-          Established Standing Orders, Work Practices, Permit to Work, Risk Assessment Formats.

-          Direct & Control Events: Manoeuvre a Multi Million Dollar investment safely in rough weather, heavy traffic, narrow waterways, pirate areas and in war zones.

-          Led People: Leader, Mentor, Director and Innovator for a crew of 25 - 40.

-     Planning, Initiate Action & Evaluation are Daily tasks on board
